SRA NRF Study Mission - New York City 2018

The local Delegation comprising senior management level representatives from 15 SMES, 5 non-SMEs and officials from SPRING Singapore, International Enterprises and Singapore Tourism Board will be attending the annual National Retail Federation’s (NRF) Retail BIG Show 2018 from 14-16 January 2018. The NRF Retail BIG Show is a three-day business conference that offers education, networking, and a showcase of technologies and solutions for the retail industry and brings together the largest gathering of industry executives for discussions of the latest industry trends and gives attendees an unparalleled view into how retail brands of all sizes are transforming themselves for the digital age.


From 17 to 19 January 2018, Delegates will also meet with leading Retailers in New York the likes of Lord & Taylor, Vera Bradley, Wolf & Badger, Nike, Samsung as well as guided tours by the management team at The Shops at Columbus Circle, Brookfield Place and Westfield Word Trade Centre. A visit to the newsroom of New  York Times is also in the cards for delegates. 


Learning from visionaries in Retail

The Study Mission aims to achieve the following objectives:-


  1. Study the latest consumer and technology trends affecting the retail trade in the US and establish valuable contacts with potential technology vendors offering innovative retail technologies which can be applied  in Singapore


  1. Learn through visits to retail stores which have adopted technology to enhance customer experience and improve productivity, and learn about the obstacles faced in building an omni-channel retail business model


  1. Learn from best-in-class retailers in the areas of brand storytelling, service excellence, strategic advertising, retail innovation and omni-channel customer engagement.

Bringing Home the Best from New York’s Retail Scene

Based in the US, the National Retail Federation (NRF) is the world’s largest retail trade association, representing US retailers. Its members include department stores, specialty retailers, internet retailers and grocery stores. NRF’s Retail BIG Show is a three-day business conference that offers education, networking, and a showcase of technologies and solutions for the retail industry.


The three-day conference opens on January 14, 2018, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. A renowned line up of the keynote speakers include:



An estimated 35,000 participants are expected with 18,000 Retailers coming from 3,500 companies across 95 countries across the Globe.


In line with the Retail Industry Transformation Map, this study mission will immerse retailers in first-hand case studies and offer rich conversations with international counterparts who have succeeded in transforming their retail businesses in the evolving retail landscape.


SRA works closely with SPRING Singapore in encouraging our local retailers to upgrade and go digital. This study mission is part of SRA’s efforts to drive industry transformation and strengthen the support for our local retailers.

Singapore Retailers on this Study Mission include Benny’s Gems Creations, Commune Lifestyle, Crocs, CYC, Gryphon Tea, Klosh, Luzerne, Megafash. Audaash/Save My Bag, Norbreeze (represents brands such as Pandora, Timberland, Bering, Danile Wellington and Cocomi), Pet Lovers,  Phoon Huat Pte Ltd, Pire Senses (distributor for Yankee Candle, Millefriori and Candle Warmers), Star Furniture and Wing Tai.  

Leading the Study Mission from SRA is Ms. Rose Tong, Executive Director and Mr John Hirst, Asst Director, Industry Engagement and International Relations.

The Singapore Retailers Association remains committed to championing the industry’s interests and assisting our members in overcoming the challenges of a trying economic landscape.
