Product: OctoBox is a new venture by B2B wholesaler, Overseas Chinese Trading Pte Ltd, utilizing RFID technologies and palm vein scanning technology to create an unmanned retail shopping experience for its customers. OctoBox will launch two unmanned retail formats, a store and a smart kiosk, for use in different retail contexts. Customers register themselves with their palm vein scan, using this scan to gain access the store and the kiosk. The palm vein scan can also be connected to the DBS PayLah e-Wallet for seamless payment at checkout. Products are all RFID tagged, allowing checkout to be done within 30 seconds and payment verified through the palm vein scan or other cashless payment methods. OctoBox will launch its first unmanned store at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in mid-August 2019, and will showcase its smart kiosk format at the SRICE 2019.

OMO STORE (BOOTH C & D)

Product: OMO Store is a new initiative by Umart, a mini-mart chain with 51 stores island-wide, and its franchisees as part of its digital transformation plan. OMO Store’s unmanned retail store concept uses RFID to track products in the store for inventory, self-checkout and security purposes. At the SRICE 2019, OMO will be showcasing a self-developed checkout kiosk and allow customers to experience the goods selection and efficient checkout process enabled by RFID. Through the showcase, OMO will share their transformation and digitalization journey with like-minded retailers, and hopes to introduce its cost-efficient RFID solution to fellow retailers. The OMO Store will be open at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in late August 2019.

The Pick & Go unmanned store showcase at the SRICE2019 will demonstrate the solution, comprising of smart shelves, entry systems and an integrated AI solution. At the showcase, customers will be able to experience how they shop in the store, simply picking up the items they would like to buy and exit the store. The AI technology will process payment automatically and seamlessly, without customers experiencing additional checkout processes. The Pick & Go live retail store is slated to open at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in September 2019.
