OctoBox will launch two unmanned retail formats, a store and a smart kiosk, for use in different retail contexts. Customers register themselves with their palm vein scan, using this scan to gain access the store and the kiosk. The palm vein scan can also be connected to the DBS PayLah e-Wallet for seamless payment at checkout. Products are all RFID tagged, allowing checkout to be done within 30 seconds and payment verified through the palm vein scan or other cashless payment methods. OctoBox will launch its first unmanned store at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in mid-August 2019, and will showcase its smart kiosk format at the SRICE 2019.
